World class goals, last minute winners, end-to-end encounters and the first sighting of a banner-carrying light aircraft.

Matchweek four of the Premier League is over and after casting our analytical eye over all 10 games, this is our Team of the Weekend.

GK –  Rui Patrício – Wolves

For the second week in a row the Wolves shot-stopper gets his place between the sticks in our Premier League XI. Rui Patrício always looked like he was going to be a superb signing for the Midlands outfit, but the way in which the 30-year-old has taken to England’s top division has been truly gob-smacking.

The Portugal international was the key man once again on Saturday, making a string of top saves to ensure his side came away with the three points at West Ham.

RB – Kyle Walker – Manchester City

At the 35th attempt, Kyle Walker finally scored his first goal for Manchester City over the weekend – and what a strike it was. Hit with arrow-like precision into the bottom left-hand corner, the England international’s winner against Newcastle was the icing on his performance cake.

Benjamin Mendy has, rightly, received a lot of praise this season, but it’s easy to forget quite how key Walker is to Pep’s side when he plays like this.

CB – Joe Gomez – Liverpool

Dejan Lovren may have claimed he’s “one of the best defenders in the world” following Croatia’s World Cup campaign, but it looks like he may have trouble getting back into the Liverpool side if Joe Gomez continues like this.

The 21-year-old was unlucky with injury last term but has come back over the summer and started like a train this time round. Gomez has formed a superb partnership with Virgil van Dijk and showed composure on the ball as well as excellent reading of the game in Saturday’s win over Leicester.

CB – Craig Cathcart – Watford

Can Watford ‘do A Leicester’? Probably not, but before the inevitable fall-off you can forgive fans at Vicarage Road for getting a bit excited. The Hornets were excellent in their come-from-behind win against Tottenham on Sunday, making it four wins out of four so far.

Craig Cathcart headed home the winner late on and will have struggled driving home after the match with Harry Kane still in his pocket.

LB – José Holebas – Watford

Another exceptional performance from José Holebas took him to the top of the Most Productive Player in the Premier League charts.

We’re not sure that’s a thing, but the left-back – thanks to his two assists on Sunday – has been involved in more goals than any player in the competition (one goal, four assists). Outstanding.

CM – Nampalys Mendy – Leicester

An unheralded signing, brought over from France to play in defensive midfield. Of course, the comparisons to N’Golo Kanté are going to be inevitable for Nampalys Mendy and – although he’s yet to reach the heights of his predecessor – the 26-year-old has been fantastic so far this season.

Liverpool on Saturday was arguably his best performance in a Foxes shirt since his arrival last summer, and up against Georginio Wijnaldum and Jordan Henderson absolutely dominated the midfield.

CM – Pierre-Emile Højbjerg – Southampton

Scored the goal that ultimately sealed Southampton’s first win this season away at Crystal Palace, but no player was as important to Mark Hughes’ men at Selhurst Park.

The Denmark international was everywhere, having the most shots on target and completing the most passes in the final third.

RW – Sadio Mané – Liverpool

With Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino not at their absolute best, someone needed to step up for this Liverpool team – congratulations then, Sadio Mané. The Senegalese has been utterly irresistible so far, firing his fourth of the season at the King Power Stadium.

His quality was never in doubt, but this looks like the year that he can step out of his partners’ shadows and become one of the very best forwards in the division.

LW – Eden Hazard – Chelsea

He may not hit the goalscoring heights of Mohamed Salah, create moments of magic out of thin air like David Silva or boss a midfield in the way Paul Pogba can – but on his day, Eden Hazard has it in him to be the best player in the Premier League.

We haven’t seen it often enough over the past 12 months, but under Maurizio Sarri, the Belgian looks reborn. He scored against Bournemouth on Saturday and created more chances than anyone else over the weekend. Keep this up, and a title challenge is on the cards.

ST – Alexandre Lacazette – Arsenal

When Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Arsenal in January, many expected Alexandre Lacazette to be the one to make way, with some suspecting that it was one or other in the Gunners starting XI. Credit has to be given to both of them then, as they seemed to have formed an almost telepathic understanding.

Both scored in the win at Cardiff on Sunday, but it’s Lacazette who gets the nod for us thanks to an assist, his tireless running and a fantastic winner.

ST – Romelu Lukaku – Manchester United

Article image:Premier League Team of the Weekend: Matchday 4

It’s been a tough week for everyone at Manchester United but they semi-silenced some of their critics on Sunday after a comfortable 2-0 win away at Burnley. Romelu Lukaku looked especially pretty in pink as he scored his first double for the club since his debut 12 months ago.

One statistic that may be a slight worry for United fans is that the 25-year-old has still only scored one goal against a top six team since joining from Everton, but for his performance this weekend, he rightly garners a place in our XI.
