Our Premier League Team of the Week features the weekend’s finest performers. This week’s XI includes stars from Liverpool, Bournemouth, and Sunderland.

Goalkeeper: Robin Roefs – Sunderland

Roefs saved a penalty from Kevin Schade with the game goalless and excelled with his distribution from the back. Roefs has settled well at the Stadium of Light and kept Sunderland in the game before their late fightback to beat Brentford.

Right-back: Dominik Szoboszlai – Liverpool

An incredible performance from Liverpool’s auxiliary right-back. Szoboszlai stuck to his task, covered huge amounts of ground, and produced a moment of magic to sink Arsenal. What a hit from the Hungarian.

Centre-back: Marcos Senesi – Bournemouth

Much was made about Bournemouth’s big departures this summer, but Marcos Senesi has stepped up after the sales of Dean Huijsen and Illia Zabaryni.

The Argentine was magnificent in the 1-0 win at Tottenham, winning 100% of his ground duels (5/5). Senesi added an assist with a pass threaded into Evanilson in a standout showing.

Centre-back: Marc Guehi – Crystal Palace

While there have been several stars sulking this summer amid a desire for a transfer, Marc Guehi has been a model professional.

The England international has informed Crystal Palace of his wish to join Liverpool, but has continued to perform with pride in a Palace shirt. He was exceptional against Aston Villa, defending diligently and scoring a stunning goal.

Left-back: Adrien Truffert – Bournemouth

Bournemouth fans might have feared the worst after their summer sales, but in Adrien Truffert, the Cherries have uncovered another gem.

The left-back was a standout in the 1-0 win at Tottenham, where he made four clearances, won five tackles, and won a mammoth 12 defensive duels.

The addition of Truffert to replace Milos Kerkez, plus £25m profit, might just be one of the most astute pieces of business in the Premier League.

Midfield: Enzo Le Fee – Sunderland

Worked his socks off for the cause, including one pitch-long pursuit of Michael Kayode that earned a huge ovation from the home crowd.

Le Fee dispatched his penalty for the equaliser impressively and was involved in Sunderland’s winner against Brentford. A performance that should rubber-stamp his spot in the starting side.

Midfield: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall – Everton

His best performance in an Everton shirt. The summer signing was at the centre of everything good from an Evertonian perspective, with a crucial role in the second goal and a fabulous hit for the third.

The give-and-go with Jack Grealish for his effort was superb, a link-up that could lead to plenty of chances this season.

Midfield: Daichi Kamada – Crystal Palace

After a mixed debut season in English football, this was more like it from Daichi Kamada. The Japan international won the penalty for the opener at Aston Villa and nicked possession in the build-up to Marc Guehi’s goal. As Palace move into the post-Eberechi Eze era, this was encouraging.

Right-wing: Jarrod Bowen – West Ham

Jarrod Bowen apologised for his midweek confrontation with the West Ham fans, but the club captain did not need to.

Bowen has been a rare positive in an otherwise troubled period and, unsurprisingly, was central to the Hammer’s first win of the season at Nottingham Forest.

Bowen’s brilliant snapshot opened the scoring, while he came close to a stunning solo effort. A class act.

Left-wing: Jack Grealish – Everton

Jack Grealish might just be a few games into his Everton career, but he’s certainly enjoying his football again.

After two assists against Brighton, he added two more in the win at Wolves, dovetailing delightfully with Everton’s new-look creative cast. With added responsibility and freedom, Grealish is shining again.

Forward: Joao Pedro – Chelsea

The summer signing continues to impress in a Chelsea shirt. Pedro has shone both as a lone forward and in a deeper role for the Blues and showed his instincts with the opener at Fulham. Good movement and a firm header broke the deadlock at Stamford Bridge. He will be crucial as Chelsea look to combat the loss of Liam Delap to injury.
