James Maddison (Leicester City)

After the spark seemed to be back in Europe in midweek for Maddison, it was full on swagger in the snow at the King Power on Sunday.

Just a week after being dropped against Chelsea, the midfielder was back and terrific in his side’s 4-2 win over Watford, providing a goal and two assists.

He set them on their way, with the help of some very generous defending, with the opener thanks to a neat volley into the far corner after a smart run.

That was followed up with a delightful chipped through ball for Jamie Vardy, the kind of service he thrives on finishing off and he duly did so.

The striker was thanking Maddison for his assistance again before the break when a front post delivery from a corner was met by an emphatic header.

Beyond that, he was at the certain of so much of the Foxes’ best moments too, even when conditions turned difficult in the second half due to the blizzard.

“You can see his quality. He was a real inspiration for us. For him it was looking at his game and finding a level where you are always looking to prove yourself,” his manager Brendan Rodgers crowed afterwards.

“You can never be calm with that, you always have to be intense. You are seeing the work, not just with him but the confidence returning to the team.”

Nobody sums up the side’s surging confidence better than Maddison.
