The Premier League season roared back into life with an enjoyable opening weekend of action.
But it is a familiar face who is yet again crowned our Player of the Week.
Itās not every week someone scores four goals. So when someone does, we just have to give it to them.
There were plenty of other fine performances ā including the entire Everton front three ā but Son edges them all out after single-handedly bailing Tottenham out on the south coast.
Spurs were awful for 45 minutes at St Maryās and lucky to only be one goal down as half-time approached and Son struck an equaliser. The burst was excellent, the touch was calm, the finish was clinical.
And there was more of the same on the way.
Three times after the break, Son beat the offside trap, calmly collected a Harry Kane pass, sped away, and scored.
The afternoon summed up the South Korea captainās threat. His speed, the timing of his runs, his composure in front of goal. And perhaps most impressively, his equally assured finishes with his right foot (goals one and three) and his left (goals two and four).
āItās incredible to score four goals in the Premier League, itās a big honour.ā
Clearly a first Premier League hat-trick wasnāt enough to satisfy a man in the mood for goals.
In a week where Tottenham fans got very excited about the prospect of heroes Harry Kane and Gareth Bale combining, Son produced a timely reminder that he will be the crucial third man in JosĆ© Mourinhoās new frontline.
In fact, he may be the standout player. Since the start of 2018/19, heās averaged a goal or an assist for Spurs every 105 minutes in all competitions. Itās a return ever so slightly better than Harry Kaneās.
Perhaps itās time to talk about if Son, not Kane, is Tottenhamās most important player. Even if JosĆ© Mourinho did interrupt Sonās post-match interview to say he wrongly pipped Kane to man of the match.
