Alex Iwobi (Fulham)

After Alexis Mac Allister drilled in Liverpool's early opener, there was a sense of dread around Craven Cottage that Fulham could be facing a third consecutive defeat.

However, the Cottagers produced a rousing first-half response and struck three goals in 14 minutes to stun Liverpool in a 3-2 victory.

Key to this emphatic reply was Alex Iwobi, who provided an energetic display to inspire Fulham to a famous Premier League win.

Iwobi was a key contributor in Fulham's electric 14 minutes, finishing emphatically for Fulham's second before teeing up Rodrigo Muniz for the Cottagers' match-winning third.

Although Iwobi has shown flashes of brilliance for Fulham in the 2024/25 campaign, a 14-match run of games without a goal for club and country perhaps left some of the Craven Cottage faithful questioning his consistency.

But that may be forgiven for his moments of inspiration. The goal and assist to orchestrate Fulham's memorable comeback over Liverpool was the third time this season where Iwobi has contributed to two or more goals in a Premier League match.

There is a reason why Marco Silva has trusted the Nigerian attacker to play in all 31 league games this season - because he has the ability to disrupt opposition defences with direct play, evidenced by his three shots on target against Liverpool.

Besides his key attacking threat in Fulham's frontline, Iwobi's ability to recover the ball and drive the Cottagers' attack was excellent on Sunday.

He has been a constant in an often rotated front three for Fulahm this season, with the likes of Raúl Jiménez, Muniz, Ryan Sessegnon and Adama Traoré often battling for the other two spots in attack.

Ultimately, Iwobi has repaid Silva's ongoing faith with some big performances and the Nigerian international has 13 Premier League goal contributions this season - his best-ever return across a single top-flight campaign.
