Despite a strong second half of the season, which ended in five straight wins and a top six finish to secure a return to European competition, Pochettino was let go despite showing strong evidence he was turning things around at Stamford Bridge.

“A circus act”

Chelsea’s sporting directors will now begin their search for a new manager, the third permanent one and fifth in total under the Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital ownership.

The decision to dismiss the 52-year-old has been met with widespread condemnation from outside Chelsea circles, as well as in with many left baffled as the Blues seemingly appeared to be heading in the right direction.

Early names linked with job include Enzo Maresca, Thomas Frank and Kieran McKenna with the club seemingly set on a young coach.

Ferdinand has labelled Chelsea a “circus act” following Pochettino’s dismissal.

Ferdinand has shared his thoughts on Pochettino’s departure and hasn’t held back in his views, describing the club as a “circus act.”

“This is a circus act, where do they go?, he told his YouTube channel FIVE.

“I’m seeing a lot of the names: Sebastian Hoeness, Michel, Kieran McKenna, Enzo Maresca, yes, they’re all good names and they’re doing bits at their clubs, but this is Chelsea man!”

It’s hard to disagree with Ferdinand given the club were world and European champions two years ago and now they are seemingly looking at appointing a manager from the Championship.

It’s making decisions like this which is going to further alienate the fanbase from the ownership with many already losing belief in them at a time they should be doing everything they can to earn the trust and support of the fans.
