Albert Grønbæk (23) arrived at Stade Rennais over the summer from FK Bødo/Glimt for a fee reported to be around €12 million. The Norwegian midfielder who can also play on either wing was one of the most sought-after talents in his home country’s league.

However, what looked to be a coup for Rennes has quickly unravelled. Grønbæk has struggled to adjust to life in France having only registered two goals and assists during his 18 appearances for the club.

A starter at the beginning of the campaign, Grønbæk has not made consecutive starts for the club since the 21st of September and has now found himself placed in the ‘loft’ by the club. Foot Mercato reports that the midfielder who had hoped that his move to Ligue 1 would be a springboard is unhappy with his current situation and has indicated to the club that he wants to leave this winter.
