The Premier League have denied Chelsea permission to seal a mega-money shirt sponsorship deal with Paramount Plus.
The Daily Mail claim the Premier League fears the deal with the American streaming service – which doesn’t broadcast games in the United Kingdom – would create complications with the league’s broadcasting partners, including Sky Sports and BT Sport.
They have insisted the deal wouldn’t be allowed under the Deed of License.
The Blues had been hopeful of striking a lucrative deal with Paramount Plus to replace the current main shirt sponsor Three.
They have now turned their attention towards online casino Stake.com.
Chelsea recently entered talks with Stake to become their new sponsor despite the Premier League announcing a ban on gambling sponsorship in front of jerseys.
However, the rule will only be active from the start of the 2026/27 season, which would allow Chelsea to proceed with their one-year deal.
Stake, which also sponsors Everton and Watford, are now looking to add Chelsea to their list.
The summer overhaul at Stamford Bridge is underway after an abysmal season, with a plethora of first-team stars already on the move.
N’Golo Kante has agreed a free transfer to Al-Ittihad, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Hakim Ziyech are also on the verge of moving to Saudi Arabia.
