There’s plenty to stew on following another round of brilliant Premier League action.
We’ve divvied out some weekly awards following a lively North London Derby, a record win by Newcastle United, a moment of magic from Bruno Fernandes, and much more.
Player of the Week
A hat-trick of assists and a clean sheet clinch this award for Kieran Trippier as Newcastle tore apart Sheffield United to win 8-0.
It’s the first time in Premier League history that there have been eight different scorers in a single game and it was the club’s biggest ever win away from home. It also equalled their record league victory, matching their win over Sheffield Wednesday by the same margin in 1999.
Goal of the Week
Manchester United midfielder Bruno Fernandes will never hit a sweeter strike in his career than he did against Burnley.
Jonny Evans deserves endless flowers for the assist, too.
Pass of the Week
Alexis Mac Allister provided a delightful golf chip of an assist for Darwin Nunez as Liverpool beat West Ham 3-1.
Save of the Week
There were a few contenders for best save this week, but Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya sprinting the length of the goal to deny Brennan Johnson his first goal for Spurs edges it. The shot was a little scuffed, but the Spaniard’s recovery after being caught off the line was sublime.
Howler of the Week
Brighton’s Bart Verbruggen won’t want to watch this back again. Fortunately for the Dutch goalkeeper, the Seagulls came from behind to beat Bournemouth 3-1.
Jorginho deserves a dishonourable mention for gifting Tottenham an equaliser immediately after Arsenal retook the lead in the second half of the North London Derby.
Miss of the Week
Ansu Fati passed up the perfect opportunity to open his account for Brighton in the Premier League when he somehow diverted the ball high and wide right in front of the goal.
Stat of the Week
Yet another record for Mo Salah to add to the collection.
Moment of Madness
It’s rare enough to see Rodri lose his head, but he truly lost the plot against Nottingham Forest on Saturday when he put his hands on the neck of Morgan Gibbs-White. The Manchester City midfielder will now miss next month’s huge Premier League clash with Arsenal.
Tweet of the Week
Former Aston Villa CEO Christian Purslow was in the away end at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, joining in the chants as the Birmingham outfit defeated Chelsea 1-0. Brilliant stuff.
Quote of the Week
Ange Postecoglou spoke for everyone on the handball rule after his Tottenham side conceded a harsh penalty against Arsenal.
