Manchester United winger Amad Diallo looks set to be a loan target for Championship clubs once again in the summer.
Diallo starred on loan at Sunderland last season, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists during the regular season, as well as finding the back of the net once in the play-offs.
The 21-year-old has been linked with a host of second tier sides this season, including Southampton, Leicester City and Middlesbrough, while Sunderland were said to be keen to bring him back to the Stadium of Light.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano revealed Diallo had a "positive conversation" with United manager Erik ten Hag in January to convince him to remain at Old Trafford, and a loan to the Championship was never a realistic possibility.
Diallo has made just one substitute appearance for the Red Devils in what has been an injury-disrupted season, but it seems as though he will be part of ten Hag's plans for the rest of the campaign.
Despite United's reluctant to allow him to depart, Diallo looks likely to have Championship interest again in the summer as according to The Sun, Birmingham City and Watford are keen to sign the winger on loan.
Diallo worked with Birmingham manager Tony Mowbray at Sunderland last season, and they will reportedly "go in hard for him in the summer" as they "will have cash to spend", while Watford's owners, the Pozzo family, could attempt to sign Diallo permanently for Italian side Udinese and loan him to Vicarage Road.
Birmingham and Watford may be keen to sign Diallo in the summer, but journalist Dean Jones believes that, unlike other youngsters such as Anthony Elanga, Diallo has a chance of establishing himself in United's team next season.
"I think if you consider Anthony Elanga's breakthrough and what he was capable of in that short period, there was a moment where we thought he might be the best thing since sliced bread. Obviously, that didn't quite turn out to be the case and he faded away," Jones told GiveMeSport.
"But, with somebody like Diallo, I've got a feeling that Manchester United have got a player that they can actually start to call upon much more regularly next season.
"But he has got to get those chances across the rest of this season to really prove that he can cut it, and I do believe that he will get that chance."
It is no surprise that Diallo is already attracting interest ahead of the summer, and his list of Championship suitors is likely to increase over the coming months.
However, after his outstanding performances at Sunderland last season, Diallo does deserve to be given a chance in the United first team, particularly considering the struggles of some of the Red Devils' attackers this season.
If Diallo is allowed to depart, his excellent relationship with Mowbray could give Birmingham a chance of landing his signature, but any side with promotion ambitions will likely be keen on him.
