Looking at the Newcastle team v Nottibgham Forest.
Eddie Howe and his players hoping to build on that midweek cup win over Chelsea and Premier League victory over Arsenal.
Finally the fine margins, finishing and luck, going in United’s favour.
The confidence and momentum from these two wins and clean sheets, could prove a game-changer.
So what can we expect the Newcastle team v Nottingham Forest to be?
As a starting point, this was the Newcastle team v Arsenal:
Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Bruno, Willock; Gordon, Isak, Joelinton
Eddie Howe gave an injury and availability update on Friday morning.
The Head Coach making clear that Wilson, Lascelles, Trippier and Botman will not be available for this Forest match. However, Eddie Howe did say that he hoped to have both Wilson and Trippier back after the international break, with West Ham now in 15 days time at home.
Eddie Howe did though reveal that Jacob Murphy has trained this past week and should be available today, as he has got over a minor hamstring problem.
Anyway, my take on all of this, my best guesstimate of the Newcastle team v Nottingham Forest is:
Pope, Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall, Longstaff, Bruno, Willock, Gordon, Isak, Joelinton
As you can see, my take on it is that it’s very difficult to see Eddie Howe making any changes at all for this Forest match.
The team played so well against Arsenal, I really can’t see the Head Coach replacing anybody, this time.
The likes of Sean Longstaff and Joe Willock started in both wins over Chelsea and Arsenal, the pair playing well in the two games. It looked a good balance and helped give United the best few days of the season so far, victories and clean sheets against two tough opposition sides.
With the luxury as well of eight days between matches, unless there are any injury/fitness issues we don’t know about, very difficult to see Eddie Howe changing anybody.
I have no doubts that many Newcastle fans would want to see a place found for Sandro Tonali this afternoon but today I think he will have to settle for a place on the bench.
Of course, it is not an 11 man game these days, so we can take it all but for granted that the likes of Barnes and Tonali will get on the pitch at some time. Hopefully to help Newcastle see out a winning position, rather than needed to help try and get United back into the contest.
As you can see from the schedule below, after the international break we have a busy time ahead, so we can expect to see for sure, Eddie Howe rotating his squad on a regular basis, plenty of matches to go around for his not massive squad.
