Predicted Borussia Dortmund XI vs Mainz | OneFootball

Mainz host Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday evening at the Mewa Arena, kick-off 18:30 local time.

Edin Terzic will be hoping for a better defensive performance after conceding three against Augsburg at the weekend, despite BVB still coming out of the game as 4-3 winners.

Coming into today’s game, Terzic has a couple of selection headaches. Jude Bellingham is suspended after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season, Marco Reus is also expected to miss the game through illness whilst Thomas Meunier isn’t expected to be fit enough after returning to light running duties on Monday.

Emre Can does return to the squad, but Kicker suggests that Mahmoud Dahoud could start alongside Julian Brandt in central-midfield. Niklas Süle is also expected to replace Nico Schlotterbeck in defence.

In attack, excluding Reus, Terzic has plenty of options. Sébastien Haller is again expected to keep his place on the bench after making his BVB debut last weekend. Youssoufa Moukoko, who signed a recent contract extension, will start ahead of Anthony Modeste whilst Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Thorgan Hazard remain options in the wide areas.
