Group A leaders Bayern Munich face Galatasaray at the Rams Park in Istanbul on Tuesday evening as they look to extend their 100 percent record in the 2023/24 Champions League campaign.

Bayern Munich confirmed that Leon Goretzka suffered a metacarpal fracture against Mainz on Saturday in the Bundesliga Topspiel, and underwent surgery meaning that the German midfielder will be sidelined for the Rekordmeister. According to Bild, Goretzka could miss around three weeks, meaning that he will likely miss Bayern’s next four games, including the clash against Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga.

In Goretzka’s absence, Thomas Tuchel may opt to bring Thomas Müller back into the Bayern Munich midfield alongside Jamal Musiala, with Joshua Kimmich acting as a single pivot. Konrad Laimer would also be an option to start alongside Kimmich, but the Austrian is likely to retain his place at right-back.

Don’t expect Bayern’s attack to change too much. Kingsley Coman and Harry Kane, who both started and scored against Mainz, should keep their place, alongside Leroy Sané.

This game will come too soon for Serge Gnabry and Raphaël Guerreiro, who are both recovering from injuries, while Dayot Upamecano remains sidelined with a muscular injury.
