Another week, a whole lot of football, and another update to the Power Rankings âŠ
Arsenal have quietly gone about their business and now find themselves fourth in the Premier League.
Four wins in a row and eight from their last 10 Premier League outings, Mikel Artetaâs men may now be favourites for fourth, with Bukayo Saka and Martin Ădegaard both shining so, so brightly.
What can we say about Newcastle being here? Theyâre unbeaten in eight Premier League matches and have won five of the last six. You canât argue with those results.
No other Premier League club is unbeaten since Christmas and Eddie Howe has completely transformed a side that looked destined for the drop at the turn of the year.
Every club at the top of Serie A has been dropping points lately but Milan are stepping up when it matters most. Draws against Salernitana and Udinese were big setbacks but they beaten Inter 2-1 a few weeks ago and won 1-0 against Napoli at the weekend.
Those wins are invaluable and have put the Rossoneri top of the table as they enter the business end of the season.
Still chugging along, Juventus are winning and winning a lot. They are simply hard to beat again and havenât lost in 14 Serie A games, picking up four more points than any other side during that run.
The gap to top spot is now just seven points â probably too much to overcome â and it seems theyâre back on track to being Italyâs team to beat.
Chelsea continue to be unpredictable. They narrowly lose to Liverpool at Wembley, then toil and have to come from behind against Luton, before huffing and puffing for one half and strolling in the other against Burnley. Exactly what Chelsea we might see in any given game is anybodyâs guess right now.
Whether the off-field uncertainty surrounding the club has an impact on their performances over the coming weeks remains to be seen.
Barcelona really might be back to being a serious force. Xaviâs side impressed in Europe against Napoli and have now gone 11 LaLiga games without defeat.
With January signings fitting in seamlessly, Barça have now won four in a row in all competitions and five of their last six in the league. Theyâre onto something.
Is it unfair to win a Champions League knockout game 7-1 and drop a place? It feels unfair, but the game came just days after Bayern struggled to a 1-1 draw at home against Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga.
That result was by no means a disaster, nor was the performance, but it also wasnât the first time Bayern have struggled to convince in recent weeks and theyâll be hoping to get things clicking with more consistency again soon.
Wow. Just wow. When it comes to the Champions League, Real Madrid are never down and out. Karim Benzema knows that as well as anyone and his hat-trick to sink PSG on Wednesday was legendary stuff.
Itâs now three league wins in a row as well, with Carlo Ancelottiâs side suddenly looking the part home and away.
The midweek loss to Inter was annoying for Liverpool but also a harsh result as the Reds hit the woodwork three times. And they still went through on aggregate anyway.
Still, a loss is a loss and it came just days after West Ham caused them plenty of trouble at Anfield. The Reds remain in top form but theyâll have to keep their eyes on the prize(s) to remain in the hunt on all four fronts.
Like Liverpool, a Champions League second leg result that looks a bit disappointing didnât really matter. In Cityâs case it mattered even less, with a 0-0 draw with Sporting a perfectly fine way to follow up a 5-0 win in the first leg.
And all that after a stunning weekend derby win over Manchester United. City remain in the Premier League driving seat.
