The football never stops, the latest Power Rankings are in.

10. Lens (🆕)

That sounds? It’s the sound of Lens sitting just three points behind PSG in Ligue 1.

A win over struggling Auxerre at the weekend made it nine without defeat in the league as Lens mount an unlikely title challenge. They couldn’t … could they?

9. Juventus (👎 Last time: 3)

And back down to Earth. Having won eight league games in a row without conceding a single goal, the chickens came home to roost for Juventus against league leaders Napoli.

A humbling 5-1 defeat all but ended any title ambitions and you now can’t help but wonder how Juve, who have been riding their luck against some of the lesser sides in Serie A. Now they will have to bounce back quickly or risk losing their place in the top four.

8. Real Sociedad (🆕)

Four wins in a row have seen La Real move to within a point of Real Madrid in the LaLiga table, who they face before the month is over.

Clear of their challengers, Champions League football beckons for David Silva and co. and they’re still going strong in the Copa del Rey too.

7. Inter (👍 Last time: 10)

A stunning Supercoppa performance saw Inter demolish Milan in midweek to claim the Italian season’s first piece of silverware. And that after they got back to winning ways at the weekend.

Simone Inzaghi has faced pressure lately but it seems things are now clicking into gear for the second half of the campaign.

6. Newcastle United (👍 Last time: 7)

That late, late, late winner against Fulham felt important. Ignore that FA Cup slip-up and focus on the league, you’ll find the Magpies are now 14 unbeaten and have still conceded just 11 times in 19 games. Three of those came against Manchester City in August.

With Alexander Isak and Allan Saint-Maximin back the squad looks stronger and Newcastle don’t look like slipping out of the top four.

5. Marseille (No change)

Another win at the weekend — 3-1 over Lorient — was a sixth in Ligue 1 in a row for Marseille and left them just five points behind PSG.

Strong at both ends of the pitch, do not write them off.

4. Barcelona (👍 Last time: 8)

Yep, they’re back. Definitely.

Barcelona played Real Madrid off the pitch in the Supercopa, with Gavi and Pedri showing the future is looking much brighter for the LaLiga leaders than the last few years have been.

3. Manchester United (👎 Last time: 1)

How quickly things can change. United’s run is not over — they’ve still not lost in 10 across all competitions, six in the league — but the weekend win over Manchester City felt like an arrival in the title race, before Wednesday’s draw with Crystal Palace felt like a swift exit.

Arsenal are next up on Sunday. It does not get much bigger.

2. Napoli (👍 Last time: 4)

Napoli 5-1 Juventus.

It was a demolition. It was a statement. It left Napoli nine points clear.

1. Arsenal (👍 Last time: 2)

Top of the Premier League, top of the Power Rankings. Arsenal were not just brilliant as they won an away north London derby in the Premier League for the first time in nine years, but they did is amid the pressure of Manchester City dropping points the day before two.

Eight points clear. It’s a big gap.
