The Champions League is back and it has seen some massive changes to our Power Rankings, with Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Inter all disappointing.
Never mind the two Milan clubs, Napoli seem to be the most in-form side in Serie A right now. A draw with Inter after four wins in a row has left them in touching distance at the top.
Victor Osimhen is fully fit again and Thursday’s clash with Barcelona should be thrilling.
A bad week and a big slide for Real Madrid, who have their Champions League hopes hanging by a thread after opening the LaLiga title race door for Sevilla.
It’s just one win in five across all competitions and they were dominated by PSG in midweek and lucky to only lose by a single goal. Things need to change and they need to change quickly.
Four league wins in a row — including that 5-2 demolition of Borussia Dortmund — means Leverkusen have pulled away from the pack and closed in on a Champions League spot.
With Florian Wirtz, Moussa Diaby and Patrik Schick all in top form, they have one of the most exciting attacks in all of Europe.
Six Eredivisie wins on the bounce have seen Ajax leapfrog PSV and take control at the top of the table.
They’ve still conceded just five goals in 22 league outings this season and have their sights set on upsetting the Champions League applecart.
Minutes away from two defeats in a week, Bayern Munich have not been having a great time of it. The shocking 4-2 loss to Bochum was followed up by a disappointing display in Salzburg.
Still, they remain six points clear in the Bundesliga and a late equaliser on Wednesday means they’re level in their Champions League tie with the home leg to come. They’ve been warned but neither blow has been critical just yet
A rise by default with the teams around them slipping, Juve are looking increasingly like their old selves.
They were excellent in the weekend draw against Atalanta, making it just one defeat (and that in extra-time) since the end of November.
Club World Cup winners has to count for something, right?
Chelsea may not have convinced out in the UAE but they returned to west London with a new trophy for the Cobham cabinet. A much-needed boost after an inconsistent winter.
Out of nowhere and straight in at third. We wouldn’t usually do that but PSG were so impressive in midweek, just when others weren’t, that our hands were tied.
Their league form had been punctuated by draws (and a cup exit) until lately but they’ve now won four in a row in Ligue 1 and then completely dominated Real Madrid on Tuesday. Write them off at your peril.
With Manchester City enjoying such a great season, Liverpool’s run of form has gone a little under the radar. The Reds are well and truly back to their best.
They’re now up to seven wins in a row across four competitions and are progressing well on all fronts, losing just twice across 38 games in all competitions since the start of the season.
There’s nothing more to say. Manchester City have won 19, drawn one and lost one of their last 21 matches. Formidable.
