We’ve now seen two rounds of group stage fixtures at Euro 2020, and what a memorable tournament it has been already.
Here’s our updated Power Rankings featuring all 24 competing nations.
Just qualifying was a huge achievement for Goran Pandev and co. but their 2-1 defeat to Ukraine saw them become the first team to be eliminated from the tournament.
Tipped by many to be potential dark horses, Turkey have been toothless and underwhelming with two defeats and no goals scored. They’re not officially out yet but they’re hanging by a thread.
The Danes were understandably traumatised by Christian Eriksen’s life-threatening cardiac arrest in their defeat to Finland and though they made a dream start against Belgium, they ended up losing that one too. Beat Russia and they could still finish second in Group B, however.
Robert Lewandowski’s equaliser against Spain means Poland can still reach the last 16 with a win over Sweden, but they will have to up their game a bit.
Attila Fiola’s goal against France and the celebrations that followed was a great moment, but Antoine Griezmann’s equaliser means Hungary’s already slim hopes of making it out of Group F are now even more remote.
The Scots were excellent in their stalemate with England at Wembley on Friday but they now need to beat Croatia or it will all have been for nothing. We wouldn’t bet against them doing just that, though.
The Swiss were taught a footballing lesson by Italy on Wednesday night but they can make amends by beating Turkey in their third match, which should be enough to see them through to the last 16.
The 2018 World Cup finalists have been disappointing at Euro 2020 so far, but Ivan Perisic’s equaliser against Czech Republic means they’re still in with a chance of making it through to the knockout phase.
Even people who aren’t Spanish have found La Roja a frustrating watch at the tournament so far. They will have to find their scoring touch against Slovakia or they could well crash out.
The 3-0 scoreline flattered Portugal against Hungary and they were all over the place in Saturday’s beatdown from Germany. Luckily they’ve got a nice easy game against France coming up next. Yikes.
Austria were poor in their defeat to the Netherlands but they should still go through by avoiding defeat against Ukraine, when they will have Marko Arnautovic back from his short suspension.
Despite losing to Russia, Finland can still go through with a positive result against Belgium, although they may have to hope the already qualified Red Devils have one eye on the next round when they meet in Saint Petersburg on Monday.
After they were unlucky to lose against the Netherlands, Andriy Shevchenko’s side got the result their performance deserved against North Macedonia. Follow that up with another win against Austria and they will finish second in Group C.
Russia were much improved in their win over Finland and probably now only need a draw against Denmark to go through. They’re the biggest climbers in our rankings this week.
They may have lost against Sweden but the lack of a strong frontrunner in Group E means it’s wide open for all four teams, and Slovakia just need a point against Spain and they should advance.
Never write off the Germans. They weren’t as bad as the result against France suggested and then they were breathtaking in their demolition of Portugal. Maybe Jogi Löw hasn’t totally lost his touch yet after all.
Questions are being asked of England boss Gareth Southgate after their toothless performance against Scotland on Friday, but they should go through as one of the best third-placed teams even if they lose against Czech Republic. Must do better though.
We feared it wasn’t going to be Wales’s year after their draw with Switzerland, but a brilliant win against Turkey means they can now win Group A by beating Italy on Sunday. We wouldn’t put it past them.
Emil Forsberg’s penalty against Slovakia means Sweden are as good as through to the last 16, and they still haven’t conceded a goal. Like IKEA flatpack furniture, the Swedes aren’t much fun but they get the job done.
After last week’s win over Germany we were convinced France were the best team at this tournament by far, but Saturday’s unexpected draw with Hungary has made us reassess. The world champions are still brilliant, but lose to Portugal and they could end up finishing third in Group F.
It’s been the Patrik Schick show for the Czechs at Euro 2020 and they only need a draw with England to finish top of Group D. Winning this group could be a poisoned chalice however, as it means a meeting with France, Germany, Portugal or Hungary in the last 16.
The fans and even some of the players aren’t happy with Frank de Boer’s tactics, but the Dutch became the first team to win a group at Euro 2020 with their win over Austria. It’s good to have them back at a tournament.
There was a distinct lack of pre-tournament hype about Belgium this year but as always, they’re a squad packed with talent and Kevin De Bruyne’s incredible second half cameo against Denmark really took them up a few gears. Roberto Martínez’s side are capable of beating anyone at this tournament.
The Azzurri were sensational in the tournament curtain raiser against Turkey and even better in their destruction of Switzerland. They’re so enjoyable to watch and we can’t wait to see them come up against an opponent who will give them a proper test at this tournament.
