Another international break is over and the 2022 World Cup picture is starting to look clearer.

In our latest Power Rankings, here’s a look at the 13 teams who have already booked their place.

13. Qatar 🇶🇦

Qualified by way of hosting, they drew 2-2 to Azerbaijan and lost 4-0 to Serbia in this most recent international break, lost to Ireland (4-0) and Portugal (3-0) in October and to Portugal again (3-1) before drawing with Luxembourg (1-1) in September.

You’ll forgive us for having them last.

12. Croatia 🇭🇷

Croatia weren’t in the easiest group in European qualifying but did avoid being drawn against any true big hitters.

The losing 2018 finalists have safely made it to 2021 but they hardly pulled up any trees getting there.

11. Serbia 🇷🇸

Finishing ahead of Portugal in qualifying was a huge success as Serbia won a head-to-head game to finish top on Sunday.

They only made it narrowly and only because Portugal wrongly didn’t have a goal awarded in a 2-2 draw in March but it’s impressive all the same.

10. Netherlands 🇳🇱

Another side who didn’t have to face anyone overly impressive to book their flights, the Netherlands will just be happy to have made it without any drama after missing out in 2018 and disappointing at Euro 2020.

It’s hard to tell where they are under Louis van Gaal but they have plenty of talent all across the pitch and could spring a surprise or two.

9. Belgium 🇧🇪

Are Belgium past their best? The golden generation is getting on. Eden Hazard is not his former self, Kevin De Bruyne has been struggling for form and there is still a huge reliance on 34-year-old Jan Vertonghen at the back.

They may have missed their shot at international glory.

8. Germany 🇩🇪

Germany made a meal of some of their early qualifying games under Joachim Löw and then had an underwhelming Euros but things have improved under Hansi Flick. They’ve improved a lot.

It’s seven wins from seven, with 31 goals scored and just two conceded. We can’t wait to see how they respond to their first big test under Flick’s supervision.

7. Switzerland 🇨🇭

Switzerland finished above Italy in qualifying, drawing with the European champions twice and all that after beating world champions France at Euro 2020.

Even there they only lost their quarter-final against Spain on penalties. Switzerland are to be taken very seriously.

6. Denmark 🇩🇰

The Euro 2020 semi-finalists qualified for 2022 before even conceding a goal. The summer was no flash in the pan.

Denmark only lost (2-0 to Scotland) when already through having won all of their first nine qualifying games. They’re here to stay.

5. Argentina 🇦🇷

Argentina ended a long wait for silverware by picking up the Copa América in the summer, and deservedly so.

Next winter will, in all likelihood, be Lionel Messi’s final crack at World Cup glory and Argentina arguably have the best defence they’ve had for years. Can the attack click in front of them?

4. France 🇫🇷

World Cup winners, Euro 2020 disappointments, Nations League winners. How good are France really?

They’re good, no doubt, but it’s hard to gauge just how good ahead of next winter. Still, the most stacked national team around will never not be one of the favourites.

3. Spain 🇪🇸

Out of nowhere, when nobody really expected it, Spain were great at Euro 2020. But then they made hard work of it against Sweden and Greece.

The big question is whether or not 2022 will come too soon for Barcelona trio Pedri, Ansu Fati and Gavi to light up the world stage.

2. England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Euro 2020 finalists, England were a couple of penalties away from their first trophy since 1966.

They’ve responded by scoring more goals (39) than anyone else in European qualifying. The talent, quality and quantity, is there. Can they put it all together?

1. Brazil 🇧🇷

Brazil remain unbeaten in South American qualifying, with the most goals scored and the fewest conceded.

Never has the managerial role looked so calm as it does under Tite and Brazil are well organised with those typical touches of flair in the final third. Right now they look like perhaps the most balanced side on the planet and will head to 2022 as optimistic as ever.
