Jurgen Klinsmann hints at transfer plans amid Tottenham managerial links

According to the Express, former Tottenham Hotspur star Jurgen Klinsmann is one of the early contenders for the managerial job after the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

The 56-year-old had a stint at Tottenham as a player in the 1994/95 season before he had another short spell in 1998. During his time with the club, Klinsmann had an impressive return of 33 goals from 59 games, establishing himself as a firm fan favourite.

Post his retirement in 2004, Klinsmann had managerial stints with the German national team, which was followed by spells with Bayern Munich and the United States Men’s National Team. The former striker was last in charge of Hertha BSC in Bundesliga but lasted just 10 games in the 2019/20 campaign.

Nevertheless, he has emerged as one of the contenders to take over at the club following Mourinho was let go of. The Portuguese tactician was shown the doors on Monday morning, following our 2-2 draw against Everton on Friday night.

That result left us five points off of fourth-placed West Ham United with six games left. The timing was certainly interesting given as the team is penned in to face Manchester City in the finals of the Carabao Cup this weekend.

While the likes of Julian Nagelsmann of RB Leipzig and Leicester City’s Brendan Rodgers have also been linked, Klinsmann’s name has also been doing the rounds. And the 56-year-old, in a recent segment with ESPN, discussed the type of player that Tottenham need to sign. (h/t Express)

“Spurs doesn’t have a player in the middle of the park and really controlling the game.”
