Tottenham manager Ange Postecoglou has confirmed Yves Bissouma will not be fit for Wednesday’s EFL Cup clash at Coventry.
The midfielder missed Sunday’s disappointing 1-0 home loss to arch-rivals Arsenal with a groin injury he suffered while on international duty with Mali.
Speaking to the media ahead of the game, the Spurs boss said: “no, Biss (Bissouma) is still not where we want him to be” before adding that “hopefully there is still a chance for the weekend”, when Spurs travel across London to face Brentford.
The news comes as a further blow to the Australian, who has come under pressure following a poor start to the season.
The absence of the 28-year-old could mean there is an opportunity for either Archie Gray or Lucas Bergvall against the Championship side in the third round of a competition that remains the North London’s last trophy success in 2008.
