Head coaches Oliver Glasner and Pellegrino Matarazzo share their thoughts on Eintracht Frankfurt’s 3-1 defeat at TSG Hoffenheim.

Head coach Oliver Glasner: “Congratulations to Pellegrino Matarazzo and TSG Hoffenheim on their win. We’re conceding too many easy goals, especially away from home. It’s not always possible to produce the kind of energy and performance you need to cancel out two or three goals, like we did on Wednesday in the cup. We didn’t defend well enough and Hoffenheim scored three times from their first four chances. We made it too easy for them. It’s demoralising when you’re always chasing the game. The boys tried everything they could; they pulled a goal back and gave it their all after the red card. We had another couple of chances but didn’t always find the right solutions. That’s a problem that we simply can’t get to grips with.”

Pellegrino Matarazzo (Head coach, TSG Hoffenheim): “Not everything went right for us but in the first half we showed what we wanted to: hunger. We played for a long time with a man less after the red card early in the second half. The team showed great heart and covered a lot of ground. Frankfurt played really well during that period, they mixed things up and opened the game up. We defended a little bit too deeply but in the end we didn’t allow them many clear-cut chances and ultimately managed to win. I’m pleased about that.”
