FC Schalke 04 will be without Dimitrios Grammozis on Saturday (4.12.). Despite being fully vaccinated, the head coach of the Royal Blues may have Covid-19.Tests, however, have not indicated clearly whether he has the virus, as both positive and negative results have been given. He is waiting on the result of a PCR-Test.

The final result will not change the decision that Grammozis will not travel to Hamburg with the team. The coach will remain in quarantine at home to avoid any further health risk. The 43-year-old’s priority is to recover as quickly and fully as possible.

Assistant coach Sven Piepenbrock will take charge, supported from Mike Büskens, as he has done this week in training. It is still not clear how long the head coach will be out of action, which essentially depends on the result of his PCR-Test as well as what we hope will be a quick recovery healthwise.

On Thursday (2.12.), the first team and the staff’s daily tests all came back negative as they had done the last time. Since the match last Saturday (27.11.) against SV Sandhausen, Grammozis has had no contact with the first team.

Everyone at the club wishes the head coach a speedy recovery!
