Liverpool have possibly been given a boost in their pursuit of Brighton midfielder Yves Bissouma as Arsenal are reportedly eyeing up a move for £10m-rated Rangers’ Glen Kamara.

According to Football Insider, Arsenal are prepared to offer Kamara a five-year contract and Rangers value him at around £10m.

This comes after reports claiming Arsenal and Liverpool are both pursuing Brighton star Bissouma, following his fine form in the Premier League this season.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

This could be a boost for Liverpool if Arsenal decide to sign Kamara instead of Bissouma. The Brighton star is valued at £40m, which means that Arsenal could save £30m by opting for the Rangers midfielder and that could appeal to them given the financial impact the Covid-19 has had on clubs. With no full capacity crowds in grounds since the start of the pandemic in March 2020, clubs have missed out on revenue they were expecting to get and that could affect transfer decision this summer.

Liverpool have reportedly felt the impact of Covid-19 with financial blows behind the scenes. This could, therefore, impact transfers this summer and cause clubs to be more cautious with their money. Arsenal may not be willing to risk £40m on Bissouma when they could, potentially, sign Kamara for £10m to improve their midfield options in the upcoming transfer window.

This means that Liverpool would have one less team to compete with for Bissouma. The Reds could then, in turn, have a greater chance of being able to sign the Mali international as Jurgen Klopp attempts to revitalise his own midfield. Gini Wijnaldum is out of contract in the summer and Bissouma has averaged an impressive WhoScored rating of 6.98 for Brighton in the Premier League, suggesting the star seagull could be an ideal replacement.
