West Bromwich Albion would have been hoping to back up their recent victory over Reading by securing a positive result in their showdown with Bristol City last night.
However, the Baggies instead produced an incredibly underwhelming display in front of their supporters at The Hawthorns as the Robins sealed all three points.
Nahki Wells was denied by Albion goalkeeper Alex Palmer before Joe Williams gave Nigel Pearson’s side the lead in the 34th minute.
The Robins doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time as Wells headed home from Antoine Semenyo’s cross.
John Swift went closest to reducing West Brom’s deficit in the closing stage of this fixture as his effort struck the woodwork.
Whereas a host of the club’s players flattered to deceive yesterday, Grady Diangana was particularly ineffective.
Here, using statistics gathered from Sofascore, we have decided to take a closer look at Diangana’s display…
Diangana made his 13th consecutive league start for West Brom last night as he featured on the left wing in a 3-4-3 formation selected by caretaker boss Richard Beale.
Having provided five direct goal contributions in the Championship this season, the 24-year-old would have been confident in his ability to make a difference in his side’s latest clash.
Unfortunately for Albion, Diangana experienced an evening to forget as he failed to deliver the goods against the Robins.
This unquestionably hindered West Brom’s ability to sustain attacks as they rarely threatened City when Diangana was on the pitch.
Diangana was unable to test Robins goalkeeper Max O’Leary as he did not register a shot during this fixture.
The former West Ham United man also did not provide any key passes for his team-mates.

Given that Diangana only had 33 touches of the ball, it is abundantly clear that he will need to get more involved in West Brom’s upcoming fixtures if he is to make a positive impact for the club.
Another area that Diangana will need to work on is his ground duels as he only won one of the five that he participated in yesterday.
With West Brom set to take on Millwall this weekend, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if Diangana is dropped from the Baggies’ starting eleven following his poor performance against the Robins.
As it stands, Beale is set to select the team to face the Lions as West Brom are still on the lookout for a new manager following their decision to part ways with Steve Bruce earlier this month.
