Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang missed out on Gabon’s match against Ghana on Thursday after a cardiac exam irregularity, but Arsenal believe he’s alright.

The Federation Gabonaise de Football released a statement on Thursday confirming that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Axel Meye, and Mario Lemina couldn’t take part in their match against Ghana.

Recently recovering from Covid-19, their medical examinations showed cardiac lesions, and CAF “did not want to take any risks”.

James McNicholas reports that Arsenal have since spoken with the Gabon medics about Aubameyang, and they’re “comfortable all is well”.

From Arsenal’s side, they understand the withdrawal from the squad was precautionary, and Aubameyang is feeling well. He’s trained normally for the last couple of days.

Gabon are very likely to reach the knockout stages, and they can make sure with a result against Morocco on Tuesday. Aubameyang will hope to be back in action for that game.

The striker is obviously a vital member of the Gabon team. Aside from wearing the captain’s armband, he also has five goals and two assists in his last 10 games for his country. We all hope to see him back in action soon.
