We are still waiting to see who becomes the new Newcastle United Sporting Director.
Paul Mitchell having exited the job after less than a year in the post.
Having worked together previously, Newcastle United CEO Darren Eales claimed to have been pivotal in the Mitchell (pictured above) appointment after the 2024 departure of Dan Ashworth.
An interesting update now on the upcoming appointment of another new Newcastle United Sporting Director.
With The Mail reporting that their information is that last year Eddie Howe had no knowledge of the Paul Mitchell appointment.
However, they report that this time, Eddie Howe has been fully part of the process, as lessons are learnt when it comes to putting in place a new Newcastle United Sporting Director.
Recruitment specialists, Nolan Partners, have led the search for the latest Newcastle United Sporting Director and two names that are understood to be leading contenders as interviews take place, are Nottingham Forest’s Ross Wilson and the former assistant Arsenal Sporting Director Jason Ayto.
The Mail say that they understand the appointment of the new man shouldn’t be too far away, but that the reality for this current summer 2025 transfer window is set to be Eddie Howe assisted by Steve Nickson and Eddie’s nephew Andy Howe, the latter who also worked at Bournemouth with the now NUFC Head Coach.
