Portsmouth defender Kieron Freeman is attracting transfer interest from League Two side Doncaster Rovers, according to BBC South reporter Andrew Moon.
Freeman’s future at Fratton Park is currently unclear as he has yet to make an appearance for Pompey during the 2022/23 campaign.
The right-back has slipped down the pecking order at Portsmouth following the arrival of Joe Rafferty who has featured in each of the club’s four league games this season.
Instead of being given the opportunity to showcase his ability against Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup earlier this month, Freeman was forced to watch on from the bench as Zak Swanson was given the nod to start in this fixture.
Following Portsmouth’s 4-1 victory over Cambridge United earlier this week, head coach Danny Cowley confirmed in an interview with The News that the club have received a formal offer for Freeman.
It remains to be seen whether Doncaster were the team who made this particular approach.
Rovers have already bolstered their squad this summer by signing nine players.
Currently seventh in the League Two standings, Rovers will be determined to extend their current unbeaten run in this division to five games by securing a positive result in their showdown with Salford City tomorrow.

The Verdict
When you consider that Cowley is currently able to turn to Rafferty and Swanson for inspiration in the right-back position, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if he opts to sanction a departure for Freeman between now and the end of the transfer window.
With Doncaster expressing an interest in the defender, the League Two side could finalise a deal if they meet Portsmouth’s demands.
Having averaged a respectable WhoScored match rating of 6.67 in the third-tier during the previous term, Freeman will be confident in his ability to deliver the goods on a consistent basis in a lower division this season.
As for Portsmouth, they may not necessarily miss Freeman if he does move on to pastures new as they have shown some real signs of promise in the opening stages of the current campaign.
