No reinforcements have been brought through the doors of Fratton Park just yet, but that doesn't mean that Pompey aren't looking to make moves. Attacking midfield options are high up on John Mousinho's priority list, and another highly-rated youngster has appeared on the club's radar.

According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Portsmouth are interested in signing Brescia teen Nuamah this summer. The Italian under-20 is set to be made available this summer, despite having another three years left on his deal with the Serie C side, because of their financial difficulties.

Brescia were handed a points deduction last season, which ultimately led them to be relegated to the Italian third tier. In a bid to try and raise some funds, they are reportedly willing to let Nuamah go.

Portsmouth interested in teenage Italian winger

Portsmouth won't have a free run at the 19-year-old that they're targeting, who played mostly on the left-wing last season but can also be used at left-back. Dutch side AZ Alkmaar are also said to be keen on a move for Nuamah.

The teenager made his debut for Brescia near the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign as a 16-year-old. He made six appearances in Serie B in that campaign and has gone on to play a further 24 league matches for the club since then, including 14 starts in the most recent term.

Pompey are closing in on the signing of Australian sensation Adrian Segecic from Sydney FC. The 21-year-old's contract is up and has chosen to join Pompey, in large part because of the appeal of Fratton Park and working with Mousinho.

While the attacking midfielder will look to hold some of the goalscoring burden next season, having netted 13 goals in 24 appearances last season, Nuamah would ease the load carried by Josh Murphy. Portsmouth's 24/25 Player of the Season has no real option behind him. The teenager's presence would provide Mousinho with a left-wing rotation option.

Portsmouth's past poor moves for potential talent could inhibit a Nuamah deal

While his age and his contract would suggest that Pompey may have to pay a bit over the odds for a winger with two professional goals to their name, Brescia need the money, so there will be some room for Mousinho's team to negotiate.

The boss stated prior to the start of the summer that he would have more funds available to him this time than when they first came up from League One a year ago. They invested a lot in younger players in the two previous windows, to varying degrees of success. Depending on what price is put on Nuamah, the lessons of last season may push Pompey away from this deal.
