Manchester United defender Alex Telles has endured a difficult two years in Manchester and is now of interest to Porto, who could be planning a reunion with the Brazilian, according to reports.

The 29-year-old has featured 20 times in the Premier League this season, more than double the appearances he managed in his first campaign, but remains the second choice behind Luke Shaw.

Telles’ arrival in 2020 sparked some life into the England international, acting as the catalyst for a stellar season that saw him help England to the EURO 2020 final.

His role at United has, however, been modest and there it’s unlikely that a new contract offer will be made as he enters the final two years of his deal.

According to Correio de Manha, via Sport Witness, Porto are keeping an eye on their former captain as they view that his days could be numbered amid the arrival of Erik ten Hag.

Ten Hag is expected to oversee a huge exodus of players and he is reportedly keen to revamp the defence, with Telles named as one of the players potentially on the market. Furthermore, the Portuguese club is said to be ‘attentive’ to the situation and are ready to pounce.

SN’s verdict… According to Transfermarkt, United paid a measly €15m to sign him from Porto in 2020 and the club will fancy their chances of making a profit on the left-back.

Whether the Old Trafford hierarchy are ready to move him on is another question up for debate, with Brandon Williams’s future also under serious threat.

Shaw’s form has taken a dramatic turn for the worse this season but it would take quite the effort from Telles to claim that position as his own, with the England defender’s stocks still very high.
