The difficulty of Inter’s task coming up against Porto in the Champions League round of sixteen this evening is underlined by the amount of time since the Portuguese champions last lost a match.
This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that it has been four months since the Nerazzurri’s opponents for this evening lost, to Benfica in the league.
Porto are certainly a team who have gained a reputation for finding ways to get the job done under coach Sergio Conceicao.
This is manifested by the fact that the Portuguese have won their last ten matches, and Inter will certainly hope that at the very least this streak isn’t extended to eleven at the San Siro this evening.
However, even when Porto fail to win, they often manage not to lose, obviously no small matter with the second leg of the round of sixteen tie against Inter in Porto looming.
The Portuguese team lost to league-leaders Benfica in a domestic match on October 21, and since then, have not been defeated in any competition.
