Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa has talked down speculation surrounding a potential move to Manchester United.

Costa is one of a number of goalkeepers reported to be under consideration at Manchester United this summer, as the Red Devils look to sign a long-term replacement for David de Gea.

De Gea’s performances have been criticised on occasion this season and reservations remain over his distribution. The Spaniard’s position has been questioned again this week after he was at fault for Ilkay Gundogan’s second goal as Manchester United lost 2-1 to Manchester City in the FA Cup final last weekend.

Costa has emerged as a potential replacement after an excellent season at Porto. The 23-year-old recorded 16 clean sheets for the Portuguese side last season and became the first goalkeeper in Champions League history to save three consecutive penalties in the competition.

The Portugal international has a release clause of around £65m in his contract at The Estádio do Dragão, but has played down rumours of a move away this summer.

“That’s the internet. It is a happiness and an honour to play for my favourite club,” Costa told reporters, as per GOAL.

“What they say is what they say, there is nothing concrete. I have a contract until 2027 and I hope to continue, let’s see.”
