SAN NICOLÁS DE LOS GARZA, Mexico – Portland Thorns FC earned a 3-nil victory against Club América Femenil in the Third Place Match of the 2024/25 Concacaf W Champions Cup Finals on Saturday at Estadio Universitario in San Nicolás de los Garza, Nuevo León, Mexico.

The Liga MX Femenil runners-up attempted to take the lead through an on-target strike from Scarlett Camberos in the 28’, dribbling through the left side of the field, but Thorns goalkeeper Morgan Messner was there to make the stop.

Pietra Tordin scored the opening goal in the 45’ to place the U.S. side in front. Tordin broke the deadlock with a right-footed hit from the left side of the box to capitalize on a cross from Carissa Boeckmann.

Payton Linnehan extended the lead for Thorns FC in the 52’ by dribbling into the right side of the penalty area to strike with her left foot. Tordin collected the assist on the second Portland goal.

Irene Guerrero attempted from a long distance in the 53’, but the Mexican side was unable to cut the deficit as the ball ended up in Messner's hands.

Two second-half substitutions connected for the third Portland goal in the 81’ as Olivia Moultrie struck on the right side of the box to complete a build-up from Caiya Hanks.

Portland Thorns FC made history as the first team to finish third place in the W Champions Cup. América Femenil concludes the inaugural edition as the fourth-place team.
