During the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, NRW Police executed arrest warrants issued by the district court of Köln following riots that marred FC Köln’s Europa Conference League game in Nice last month.

The statement said: “In connection with the riots at the football game between FC Köln and OGC Nice on September 8, the police have executed arrest warrants issued by the Köln district court against those suspected of being involved in the crime.” They further state that houses in Köln, Hürth, Pulheim and Bergisch Gladbach have been searched with the support of riot police.

The police will present the details of the investigation in a press conference on Wednesday afternoon.

On a night marred by violence, French news agency AFP report, via Kicker,two police officers and a steward, which resulted in four hospitalised. One of the injured – a reported Parisian in the guest block – was in critical condition after falling from the middle tier.

As a result, Köln were fined €100k by UEFA and are banned from selling tickets for their next two away games in Europe.
