Poland head coach Michal Probierz has on Tuesday moved to provide his backing to talismanic frontman Robert Lewandowski, whilst simultaneously taking aim at Barcelona.

Lewandowski has of course regularly found himself singled out for criticism over the course of the current campaign.

Despite having managed a respectable 25 goals across all competitions for an off-colour Barcelona outfit, the former Bayern Munich man has seen several key aspects of his game picked apart by fans and the media alike.

As much has even culminated in suggestions that, in the case of an offer deemed as suitable arriving for his signature in the summer, the Camp Nou brass could be open to a sale.

As alluded to above, however, one individual of the opinion that Lewandowski was not put in a position to succeed in the first place this season, comes in the form of the aforementioned Michal Probierz.

Speaking in an interview with TVP Sport, as cited by Diario Sport, on Tuesday, Poland’s boss was drawn on the at-times tumultuous term to have been endured by his side’s star man in Catalunya’s capital.

And Probierz made use of the opportunity to shift the blame firmly onto the shoulders of Barcelona, in responding:

“Robert is Barça’s top scorer and it must be said that the team has not helped him.

“Often he was in a shooting position and the ball never reached him.

“Barça was in a disastrous state of form and Robert was the player who tried to lift the team, but there was a moment when Barça fell out of the fight because of the titles and the team’s morale went down.”
