Inter Milan midfielder Piotr Zielinski and striker Marko Arnautovic are training individually and will undergo medical tests today.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
Inter’s squad have been in training for over three weeks. The players have, however, been returning piecemeal following their extended post-EURO 2024 and Copa America vacations.
One player who made a relatively early return was former Napoli midfielder Zielinski.
The 30-year-old was part of Poland’s squad at the Euros. However, the Poles were among the teams who failed to get past the group stage of the tournament.
The silver lining for this was that Zielinski has enjoyed nearly a complete preseason with Inter.
The Pole only completed his move to the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last month.
Meanwhile, Arnautovic is a recent returnee.
The Austrian international returned to training last week. He captained his national team to the round of sixteen of the Euros.
Midfielder Zielinski has been training for around three weeks. He has also started several friendly matches for Inter as he’s looked to get up to speed with his new teammates.
The signs have been fairly positive from Zielinski.
The Polish international has been clicking into place in Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 formation.
But according to the Gazzetta Zielinski has had a bit of a setback in training.
The newspaper report that the Pole has suffered a muscle problem that is causing him to train apart from the rest of the squad.
The same is true of striker Arnautovic.
The 35-year-old former Bologna and West Ham United striker has not quite recovered physical condition since his return to training. That was evident in his performance in a friendly against Pisa.
Like Zielinski, Arnautovic has a muscle problem, and is training individually.
Both Zielinski and Arnautovic will undergo medical tests today. In both cases, Inter are hoping that the players’ respective problems are very minor though.
