Pochettino Responds to Neymar’s Comments on Wanting to Reunite With Messi | OneFootball

Last month, Paris Saint-Germain forward Neymar garnered much attention when he opened up about aspirations to reunite with FC Barcelona star Lionel Messi. The two have come close to reuniting in recent years with the mountain of rumors linking Neymar to a Barca return, but no such deal ever transpired.

Overall, these comments opened up the floodgates for rumors and speculation on whether Messi could be jumping ship to join Neymar at PSG.

New PSG manager Mauricio Pochettino certainly is aware of the current situation regarding Messi at Barcelona, where the Argentine forward is set to become a free agent at the end of the season.

For Pochettino, he is not joining Neymar in publicly talking about wanting to see this possible reunion, even if it is at PSG. The Argentine manager spoke to Cadena Ser’s El Laguero (via AS) about Neymar’s comments.

“I don’t know, to be honest, I haven’t had time to sit with the president and talk about the transfer market as we’re just focused on the present,” Pochettino said. “So many times, a throwaway phrase can be twisted and used out of context.”

Speculation will only continue to mount with Messi’s future at Barca and whether he could possibly be on his way to PSG up next.
