Pochettino refuses to blame unnecessary tackle for Chelsea defeat today

There’s a lot of pressure on Mauricio Pochettino right now, and he had an easy chance to blame someone else when it was put to him in his presser today that Malo Gusto’s red card came from an unnecessary challenge, and had changed the game by putting Chelsea down to ten men.

Pochettino didn’t take the bait, instead insisting that Chelsea were collectively responsible for things that happened in the game:

“It is our responsibility. I am not going to blame and say something against Malo Gusto because sometimes things happen in football but they affect the game.”

There’s no doubt in our mind that Gusto was silly there, and we’re sure privately Pochettino won’t be so forgiving. Gusto not only hurt us today, he’s also now banned for 3 games. The coach can defend him all he likes, it was a very foolish moment and we all know it.

Who fills in at right back in the coming weeks isn’t clear, with Reece James not yet fit. It’s just another problem for our manager to wrap his head around.
