PM: Worrying stat adds to pessimism around Ibrahimovic’s Milan future

A particularly concerning statistic does not bode well for Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s future at AC Milan as he continues to struggle with injuries.

As pointed out by Pianeta Milan, when Ibrahimovic came back to the club in January 2020, things went very well. He only missed four of the 25 available games in that half-season that he was in the team. He scored 11 goals and got five assists.

The next two seasons featured a lot of injuries but also plenty of goals. In 2020/21, he played 27 times and scored 17 goals. In 2021/22, he missed 18 of the 48 available games but scored eight times.

This season thanks to injuries, the 41-year-old has been on the pitch just four times. That means he has missed 36 games of the 43 Milan have played so far.

Overall since returning to the club in January 2020, Ibrahimovic has missed 82 games out of 169. Whilst he is clearly desperate to still help the team, it is hard to imagine he will play many more times for the club.
