Plymouth goalkeeper hails 17-clearance hero of Liverpool win | OneFootball

Plymouth Argyle goalkeeper Conor Hazard has said the club are ‘lucky’ to have centre-back Nikola Katic after the defender’s display against Liverpool.

Katic produced a man-of-the-match performance as Plymouth secured a huge upset by beating the Premier League leaders in the FA Cup’s fourth round on Sunday. Ryan Hardie’s penalty earned The Pilgrims a shock 1-0 win and a place in the draw for the fifth round.

A resolute defensive display saw the Championship’s bottom club record a clean sheet, despite boating the worst defensive record in the second tier. January recruit Katic was outstanding for the home side as the Bosnian racked up a mammoth 17 clearances. Plymouth only signed Katic on loan from from Zurich until the end of the season on January 31st.

The former Rangers defender was also not dribbled past all afternoon, blocked three shots and won 5/6 defensive duels.

Plymouth goalkeeper Hazard hailed the performance of Katic and said the club are ‘lucky’ to have the 28-year-old.

“What a performance from him (Katic),” he reflected to ITV.

“He has made such a massive difference since coming in and we are lucky to have him.”

On his performance and a huge win for Plymouth, Katic said: “This is why I came here. it is good to get confidence of this win. We did good with the defensive structure and everybody gave their 100%. We did what the coach asked from us. That is it.”
