Although it won’t be officially confirmed until the final day, Plymouth Argyle are all but relegated from the Championship.

Boss Miron Muslic has accepted as much because, although the Pilgrims are only three points behind Luton Town, even if results went their way, they’d have to overturn a 14-goal deficit to the Hatters.

The finances of a demotion mean some of Plymouth’s current players will likely depart, but some may remain to fight it out in the third tier.

We asked our Plymouth Fan Pundit, Chris, which player he’d most like to see remain at Home Park.

Plymouth urged to keep hold of Mustapha Bundu

Speaking to Football League World, Chris said: “With the prospect of playing regular Championship football elsewhere next season, there will certainly be players in the Argyle squad who will be considering moving on from Plymouth to pastures new.

“This not only has a big negative impact in relation to squad morale, but it will also have a negative impact on our potential immediate bounce back from League One to the Championship.

“There are certainly several players who Argyle fans would be keen to keep on their books. However, I think one of the most important players in the immediacy will be Mustapha Bundu.

“His contract expires at the end of the season, so we would lose him on a free transfer if we're not able to renew terms with him.

“So far, Miron has been able to get the best out of him in these past few games, not only being one of the top scorers of the club this season, but also being a quality assister and being able to play in a variety of roles.

“I believe that Miron and the board should throw everything at this, and try and keep him on our books for as long as possible, ensuring that they would keep a prolific striker, which are hard to come by these days, in Plymouth Argyle’s ranks.”

Argyle would do well to keep hold of Bundu

Sitting at the top of Argyle’s goal involvement charts, with 10 goals and six assists, Bundu, along with Ryan Hardie, have undoubtedly been the Pilgrims’ stand-out players in an otherwise dismal season.

Bundu managing to post those numbers as part of a struggling side will not have gone unnoticed by teams remaining in the Championship; they’ll wonder what he might be capable of in a better-functioning team.

That alone would surely provoke sides to table a low-ball bid as the Pilgrims look to adjust their finances for a lower division; the fact that the Sierra Leone international’s contract expires at the end of this season, meaning he’ll be available on a free this summer, only increases the attraction.

It gives Bundu complete freedom to decide his future during the upcoming transfer window. He will undoubtedly have Championship interest, with the costs associated with taking a chance on him relatively low for suitors.

Given the option of Championship football, and likely a higher wage, it seems clear from the outside what his choice will be.

Nevertheless, Muslic has said that he will “try everything” to get Bundu to remain at the club.
