Plymouth Argyle’s squad is set to look very different next season after a raft of incomings and outgoings this summer.

Tom Cleverley was appointed as the Pilgrims’ boss following Miron Muslic’s departure and has already begun to recruit extensively.

The 35-year-old has added Aribim Pepple, Jack MacKenzie, Brendan Wiredu, Caleb Watts, Bradley Ibrahim, Xavier Amaechi, Jamie Paterson, Owen Oseni and Ayman Benarous to his ranks, which has almost changed the face of the team entirely.

Key players from last year such as Maksym Taloverov, Ryan Hardie and Mustapha Bundu have also all moved on to pastures new, following Argyle’s relegation.

Football League World’s Plymouth Argyle fan pundit, Luke Hodge, has highlighted one player still currently at Home Park that Cleverley must try not to part ways with.

Plymouth Argyle ordered not to sell Bali Mumba

“It’s difficult to say which one of our players we can’t afford to lose from now until the end of the window,” stated Luke.

“Because we've literally sold 80% of our squad from last season already. Players who had relegation clauses etc, we just couldn't hold on to them and if they wanted to go we were happy to let them.

“So, from the players that are actually left from last year, I would like to try and keep hold of Bali Mumba. I think he was excellent in League 1 last time and I think he's a player that could do very well for us again this upcoming season.

“I think it's imperative that we are able to keep Bali. Also, Conor Hazard, our goalkeeper, performed well last year and with a lack of goalkeepers at the I think him staying would be a very important position to maintain this year too.”

Bali Mumba has promotion experience Plymouth Argyle must keep

As previously mentioned, a large number of Argyle’s star performers from last year have already departed this summer, which would make losing Mumba all the bigger blow.

The versatile full-back was part of the Pilgrims’ side that romped to the League One title in the 2022/23 season and therefore knows what it takes to achieve promotion to the second-tier.

That will be the goal for Cleverley and Co. after recruiting so extensively, so having someone with that expertise on his CV is crucially important.

At just 23 years of age, Mumba has room to grow into an even more capable operator in future years, which means that Argyle could sell the player on for an even bigger profit in the future.

But for now, they must ensure they keep his quality in the squad to reclaim their Championship status.
