It's been an incredibly busy summer for Plymouth Argyle already, with numerous ins and outs as well as an unforeseen managerial change.

Tom Cleverley has been installed as the new Pilgrims boss after Miron Muslic's departure, and the former Watford manager will be tasked with returning the club to the Championship at the first time of asking next season.

However, he's already had to wave goodbye to many of the club's star players, with Ryan Hardie, Maksym Talovierov, Jordan Houghton, Adam Randell and Mustapha Bundu all having left Home Park.

Cleverley has only recently confirmed that Plymouth are "working hard" to sign another centre-forward this summer, with the hope around Home Park being that they will get a breakthrough in the next week or so.

They may well be about to get exactly that, as Sky Sports have revealed on Monday that Argyle have made a new bid for Burton Albion striker, Rumarn Burrell.

It's understood that the offer that the Brewers are now considering is in the region of £1m, with it being said that Burrell himself is keen on the move to Devon.

The report concludes by detailing Plymouth's confidence that a deal will be agreed for the 24-year-old centre-forward.

Football League World exclusively revealed at the start of this month that Plymouth were eyeing up a move for the Jamaica international, and now it appears that Argyle are indeed set on signing the former Middlesbrough man this summer.

Burrell signed a three-year deal with Burton last summer, meaning he's contracted at the Pirelli Stadium until the summer of 2027.

Burrell would go a long way to replenishing Plymouth's attacking arsenal

It's no secret that Plymouth's cutting edge needs sharpening this summer, after a handful of their best attacking players have now departed the club.

The club have been able to sign Bim Pepple from Luton Town and Owen Oseni from St Mirren respectively, but neither of those two strikers have ever played a minute of League One football before.

One who has is Burrell, and not only has he turned out at third tier level, he's turned up too.

The Burton hitman bagged 11 goals in 30 League One appearances last season, enough to crown him the club's top scorer - and indeed making him the only Brewers player to hit double-figure league goals last term.

As such, he's proven himself to be a capable goalscorer at this level, and at just 24, there should be plenty of scope for future improvement in his game too.

Burrell also has an impressive track record for finding the back of the net from his time in Scotland, where he scored 12 in 39 for Falkirk, before netting 24 times in 42 total appearances for Cove Rangers prior to signing for Burton last summer on a free transfer.

So, there is a solid amount of evidence to suggest that should Plymouth secure his services, he could well be the man to fire them back to the Championship next season.
