The hunt for a new Plymouth Argyle manager is still ongoing, with the Pilgrims looking to appoint the successor to Ian Foster now that the Championship season has come to an end.

The management duo of Neil Dewsnip and Kevin Nancekivell oversaw the remaining six fixtures of the season after the sacking of the former England youth boss, as they secured second tier football on the final day of the season.

With footballing matters put to one side for the time being, the search for a new man in the dugout at Home Park has recently ramped up, with interviews said to be being held this week.

Here we take a look at the latest happenings in Devon as the process continues, with competition appearing for one of the leading names in the frame.

John Percy of The Telegraph reported earlier this week that former Barnsley and Sheffield United boss Paul Heckingbottom was in the running to become the new boss at Home Park.

The 46-year-old was said to have been interviewed by the Pilgrims this week and to be a frontrunner for the role, although that could now be scuppered by reports that Birmingham City have shown an interest in the manager.

Alan Nixon reported the update on Thursday as the Blues search for a new boss following their relegation to League One, and the departure of Tony Mowbray from the dugout.

The St Andrew’s side are also said to be interested in Bolton Wanderers boss Ian Evatt, as well as Stockport County’s Dave Challinor, while Alex Neil is also said to be having an interview with the club next week.

Thomas Tuchel Chelsea links could scupper Anthony Barry move

Argyle have reportedly been long admirers of Anthony Barry, who was last working with Thomas Tuchel as part of the coaching staff at Bayern Munich.

With the German giants finishing third in the Bundesliga this season, Tuchel was promptly received of his duties and has already been rumoured to be interested in a return to former club Chelsea.

If Tuchel is to return to Stamford Bridge, it could prevent any move for Barry happening, with the former Accrington Stanley player likely to join the German as part of his backroom staff, despite interest from Argyle to give him his first role as first team coach.

Liam Rosenior rejects Birmingham City approach after Plymouth Argyle snub

Liam Rosenior was an early consideration to be the new man at the helm at Home Park next season, after his unceremonious departure from Hull City after the conclusion of the recent Championship campaign.

The former Tigers boss was given the axe just days after the season came to an end, with his side going down 1-0 at Home Park, a result which confirmed Argyle’s survival from relegation.

Rosenior has since reportedly rejected the chance for an immediate return to management with the Pilgrims, with the 39-year-old also being eyed up by relegated side Birmingham City, as well as Sunderland.

Alan Nixon has recently reported that the Blues have also been rejected in their approaches for Rosenior, making it two clubs he has turned down within three weeks of being unemployed.
