Plenty to play for in Celtic’s remaining fixtures some more than others

With only three league fixtures left to the conclusion of the campaign and nothing riding on the outcome some could be forgiven for viewing these games as purely ‘meaningless’ but nothing could be further from the truth…

These games are a chance for certain players to vindicate themselves in the eyes of the supporters, some more than others, and one player in particular who that applies to is Adam Idah.

The Irishman was signed for a whopping £9 million from Norwich City last summer after a successful loan spell in Glasgow which seen him play a massive part in our double success last season.

However it would be fair to say that he’s failed to live up to that price tag with the club looking to have paid well over the odds for the Republic of Ireland international.

Adam’s goal return hasn’t been too bad as his return of 18 in 50 appearances would suggest even more so when you consider he’s not a regular starter, but for a Celtic striker commanding such a price tag it’s still rather underwhelming to say the least.

Adam has shown in flashes that he’s a decent striker such as his display at Villa park in the Champions League which seen him grab a brace, but he’s failed to show that form on a consistent basis.

The challenge now for Adam is to show that form in the remaining games and prove to his critics and most importantly himself that he is more than capable of being the main man up front for Celtic.

Adam is yet to have a full pre-season with Celtic and there is no doubt that he’ll benefit from that this summer. Like Arne Engels the price-tag is often a factor in supporters valuing players’ worth and contribution but it’s not their fault.

Brendan Rodgers signed both players for a combined £20m and in doing so signalled a new approach to the old day of transfer punts at £3m or lower. We had better get used to more coming in if Brendan has his way and calm down on the transfer fee factor when making our feelings known about some players.

Idah can will some more folk over in the next three games and then he likes a Scottish Cup final goal, does he not?
