There was confusion at Manchester United following reports that Christian Eriksen had confirmed his departure from the club at the end of this season, according to the Daily Mail.
The midfielder recently told Danish outlet Bold there is yet to be a breakthrough over a potential contract extension.
His current deal expires at the end of the season, and many outlets reported he would exit the club this summer.
However, United are relaxed about the current situation, and no decision has been made about Eriksen’s future.
Ajax are reportedly keen on signing the midfielder on a free at the end of the season, but his departure from the Theatre of Dreams is far from guaranteed.
The 32-year-old has re-established himself in the starting line-up in recent weeks, and his form has given the Red Devils’ executives something to think about.
He currently earns £150,000 per week, and his tally of three goals and three assists in eight games this season has impressed Man United.
Eriksen also notched a goal and an assist for Denmark in their Nations League game against Switzerland last night.
He produced a top performance and could end up playing his way to a new deal.
Manager Erik ten Hag has relied heavily on the former Tottenham Hotspur star recently, and he is likely to keep getting the nod in the first-team if he continues to perform at this rate.
Man United could look to hand him a 12-month extension in the coming weeks, and not many people would be surprised if that happens.
Eriksen has rediscovered his form this term and could play a crucial role as the Red Devils look to impress across all competitions this term.
