Former Swansea City boss Steve Cooper is reportedly Nottingham Forest’s main target following the sacking of Chris Hughton, which has drawn a frustrated reaction from many Reds supporters.

The East Midlands club announced this morning that Hughton had been relieved of his duties after their nightmarish start to the season had left Forest bottom of the Championship with just one point from seven games.

Steven Reid has been put in temporary charge of the senior side but the search for a new permanent boss is ongoing, with the club suggesting they’ll keep fans updated with any progress made.

According to The Athletic, Cooper, who has been jobless since leaving the Swans in the summer, is on Forest’s radar and is their main target to replace Hughton at the moment, though there are other names on their list.

It is understood that the Welshman’s record of coaching young players and his impressive tenure at Swansea, which saw him reach the play-offs in back-to-back seasons, are what have interested the City Ground outfit.
