The Celtic Star

In my usual peruse of twitter and all things Celtic ahead of our game against Raith Rovers tonight, I clocked an update from Celtic’s official twitter account telling the fans to come along early to witness “the lightshow”. This has aggravated me somewhat.

I understand some people may be thinking I’m being pedantic about this, and I can certainly see their point. But those who run our Club are shameless beyond all possible human comprehension.

“Make sure you’re in your seat for 7:30pm as we plunge the stadium into darkness and the pre-#CELRAI lightshow gets underway…” is the tagline on this particular occasion.

Oh how right they are. The stadium has been plunged into darkness for some time, and this latest metaphorical boob is just another in a long list of appropriate epithets for our Club’s quasi-custodians. What use is the paraphernalia if there is a notable lack of substance underneath? The dearth of modern thinking in the Celtic Park boardroom, is what has caused the darkness that Celtic has endured since Brendan Rodgers left in February 2019.

With a defective working environment for new ideas, and a Chairman who is like a caricature of an eighteenth-century Mill owner, I see very little enlightenment from the upper deck apart from the superfluous lights that Chris Sutton infamously dubbed “disco lights”; unsurprisingly in a critique of Celtic’s transfer dealings and lack of cohesive strategy.

Ahh well. At least the Directors can show off their fun toy to the prawn sandwich brigade.
