A Tottenham star has revealed the secret behind one of his best qualities, which has allowed the team to fight until the final minute of the match with intensity.
Dejan Kulusevski has been one of Tottenham’s standout players this season, and it’s not just his technical ability that has impressed fans and pundits alike.
The Swedish winger has revealed the secret behind his phenomenal stamina, which allows him to keep going for 90 minutes in a way many of his peers simply can’t match.
According to the stats, Kulusevski is in a league of his own when it comes to distance covered and sprints per game. In fact, he currently leads the Premier League in sprints per game and has recorded the two highest distances run in a single game this season.
In Tottenham's 3-0 victory over Manchester United, Kulusevski covered an astonishing 13.2 km, and in their 3-1 win over Brentford, he ran 12.6 km. These impressive numbers highlight just how much of an asset he is for Spurs.
When asked about his extraordinary running stats, Kulusevski was quick to acknowledge that while his genetics play a part, it’s also the result of sheer hard work and mental resilience.
He told Sky Sports, "Part of it is mental. But it is also genetics. When we do physical tests at the club, they always see that I have a very strong heart, so I imagine that helps me a lot."
He went on to explain that even with minimal recovery time, he feels energised and ready to go again.
"As soon as I get one minute of recovery time, it just fuels me up to go again. I just need to recover for a little bit, and then I have all my stamina back quite fast."
This rapid recovery, combined with his physical conditioning, allows him to stay at his best for the entire match.
Kulusevski’s determination to become the best version of himself has been clear in his off-season training. During the summer break, he focused on strengthening his body and enhancing his mental game, admitting that he matured and now approaches the game with a more focused mindset.
For the 24-year-old, pressure is not part of the equation. He believes that football should remain something fun, something that brings joy.
"Pressure should not exist in football. It’s just doing the thing that you love," he said, reminding us all that enjoyment is key.
Kulusevski's work ethic, combined with his mental clarity and focus, has clearly paid off, making him one of the key contributors to Tottenham’s success this season.
