Inter record their third straight win in all competitions after defeating Venezia 2-0 away at the Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo in Venice.

It was a controlled performance by the Nerazzurri from start to finish although it got unnecessarily nervous before Lautaro Martinez secured all three points from the penalty spot with the last kick of the game, after Hakan Calhanoglu broke the deadlock in the first half.

Samir Handanovic – 6: Samir had a relaxing stroll in Venice tonight. Made one great save from a long-distance missile from Aramu and then could have read his favorite book.

Milan Skriniar – 6.5: Venezia did not challenge Inter much in the first half. Skriniar had more fun attacking the right side with Darmian and Barella. Could have scored.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6.5: When Bastoni played centrally last season, he looked out of place. This time around he looked comfortable and moved the ball around as he wished.

Federico Dimarco – 6: Not much defending to do, but Federico was good on set pieces and was a constant thorn in the flesh for the Venezia defense. Great on set pieces.

Matteo Darmian – 6.5: Another good game for Matteo. Defended whatever little came his way and timed the attacking runs almost perfectly. Hoping it’s not a serious injury.

Nicolo Barella – 6: Not many expected Barella to start this game but Simone showed that Nico is irreplaceable. Played very well and ensured that Inter had control.

Marcelo Brozovic – 7: For a change Brozo was not marked tonight. Made a huge contribution in the attacking play tonight. Nobody deserves a new contract more than him.

Hakan Calhanoglu – 7: Continued his purple patch of form tonight and scored in his third consecutive Serie A game. Scored when Inter needed a goal the most. Fine signing. MOTM.

Ivan Perisic – 6.5: Ivan continued his great run of form and caused a lot of trouble on the left flank. Was not afforded a lot of space tonight but still made an impact.

Edin Dzeko – 6: Always involved in every attacking move that Inter made. Came deep or stood wide in space as an option for the midfield. Ran himself into the ground.

Joaquin Correa – 5: Correa had a moment or two with the ball, but they were too few and far between each other. Did not produce any of the brilliance he possesses. Poor.

Matias Vecino – 5.5: Brought on to give Hakan a bit of a rest. Did not have much to do but when he got the ball in space his passing was not up to the mark. Not enough.

Lautaro Martinez – 6.5: Came on and pressured the Venezia midfield and defense with his industry. Gave the referee a piece of his mind and dispatched the penalty very well.

Denzel Dumfries – 6: Decent outing for Denzel tonight which will help his confidence. The positioning seemed better, and the passing seemed precise. Starts against Spezia?

Roberto Gagliardini – N/A: Great impact of the bench as Gagliardini replaced Barella who had run his race. Some good tackling and movement to keep control of the left flank.

Danilo D’Ambrosio – N/A: Another short outing for Danilo who played on the left side of the 3-man defense tonight. Truly the utility man of this Inter squad and dependable.

Simone Inzaghi – 6.5: Got the lineup and substitutions absolutely right against an opponent who didn’t challenge much. Maybe needs to work on the chance conversion bit.

Livio Marinelli – 6: Fairly simple game to officiate and Marinelli did a great job especially in the first half. Always in complete control. Clear penalty as per the rules.

Inter – 6.5 : 3 good wins in a week when Inter beat a Scudetto challenger and sealed qualification to the knockouts in Europe. Can’t ask for much more.
