“La capolista se ne va!”  or ‘ the leader is running away‘ chanted the Napoli fans at the final whistle and they’re right: the Scudetto is getting closer and it’s just a matter of time.

It was another statement win for Napoli as they beat Sassuolo away from home by a 2-0 scoreline and it was the seventh success in a row for Luciano Spalletti’s side, who are now momentarily 18 points away from second placed Inter.

The standout players for Napoli are the usual suspects: Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Victor Osimhen, whose scored a goal each during the first-half.

The Georgian broke the deadlock with an impressive solo goal where he took the ball at the halfway line, left three opponents behind and then curled the ball from the edge of the box into the bottom corner leaving Sassuolo’s keeper Andrea Consigli standing.

Osimhen then doubled Napoli’s lead with an essay of his best qualities: He made a quick and deep run to receive Rrahmani’s long ball inside the penalty-box, then he defended it against the two Sassuolo’s center backs before flashing Consigli on the first post with a thundering shot from a tight angle.

It helped create anew record for Osimhen, as he became the first ever Napoli’s player to score in seven straight Serie A games in the three points for a win era.

Sassuolo gave their best but it wasn’t enough. There was a bit of bad luck too for Alessio Dionisi’s side as Armand Laurienté saw a goal ruled out for offside, minutes after having hit the post.

Napoli can now focus on their Champions League’s campaign with the first leg of the last 16 against Eintracht Frankfurt scheduled on Tuesday night.
